Citrus Smoothie

Ordering a smoothie out is not necessarily good for you. Frequently smoothies are full of sugar and while they sound like a nutritious choice many have undesirable ingredients. This smoothie is so easy to make and it reminds me of one I use to get a Jamba (Juice). A key note in making this is to include as much of the pith of your citrus as possible. This is where the fiber is and it will help your body absorb the sugar more slowly.

Ingredients

½ orange
½ grapefruit
½ lemon
½ banana

Using a sharp knife cut the citrus in half. Place the flat side onto a cutting board and using a sharp knife cut the skin, leaving as much pith as possible. It’s ok even if you get a little of the outer skin.

Add citrus and banana to a high power blender. Using the plunger, blitz on high. Add ice (a big handful) and blitz again.

It should be frothy and cold!
